Survival of a nation

December 9, 2008

Well folks, the survival of our nation is at the tipping point. During the presidential campaign, president elect Barack Husein Obama’s slogan was “Change” by the way, every time I heard that word I thought of “Spare change”which is exactly what the middle class is living on. By the way, is it me or are we seeing the same retreads we witnessed in the Clinton cabinet?

So much for change. I mean there has to be real change other than these also-rans. So this begs the question, are you prepared to survive four gut crunching years on spare change?

Will You Survive

Do you know why they say the big one is going to hit California?  I used to think that all that talk was stupid, and it was all just gloom and doom.  When actually, there is a real possability that the big one really will hit.  We all know that history usually repeats itself and according to history we are approaching the end of the 200 year timeframe that says there will be an enormous earthquake.  I sure do pray that history does not repeat itself this time, but just in case, it won’t hurt to have extra water laying around or even an emergency survival kit.  If the big one never hits, those survival supplies will still come in handy for something.  That’s one of the reasons we started bepreparedsurvival.com, to let everyone know it’s ok to prepare.  You don’t have to be paranoid and live gloom and doom.  Just put some things aside “just in case”.  It’s better to be prepared and have nothing happen than to have something happen and not be prepared.  Besides Murphy’s Law says “what can go wrong will go wrong”.  So if you’re prepared it probably won’t happen and if you’re not prepared it probably will.  Emergency survival kit, survival knives.  Just get a couple of good survival knives to keep on hand.  I use mine in the kitchen to cook with.  Disaster first aid kits?  Any first aid kit will be helpful and even if there is no disaster, how many times do you need a bandaid and can’t find one?  Think about it.

I’d like to hear others everyday answers to preparedness.

Survival Knives

Today I talk about survival knives.  They are pretty much essential to survivalSurvival knives, if in the right hands are capable of making tools, shelter, clothing, and putting food on the table.  Good survival knives render compromise obsolete.  What does that mean, you say?  Well, it means just that, good survival knives eliminates the need to settle for less.  You can build with survival knives.  You can make tools with survival knives.  You can hunt and prepare food with survival knives.  The possibilities of what survival knives can do are endless.  You can rely on good survival knives to get you through.  Water and air are mandatory for survival but good survival knives will help you to get whatever else you may need to survive a disaster.  Survival knives are good for everyday use also.  My husband once had (well he has a lot of survival knives, he collects knives) a buck knife.  That was my favorite knife in the whole world.  I used in the kitchen and the garage and outside.  We used that knife for everything.  He sold it in a garage sale.  Someone got a very good deal and I don’t think I will ever get over losing that knife.  HAHA.  No seriously, though, I miss that knife and will someday find one I can be as attached to.  Until then I will continue on searching for survival knives that will compare.  Everyone needs survival knives in their disaster planning.  Do you have any survival knives around your house?

Survival

My husband and I are venturing into a new arena.  Survival Supplies.  We have just completed, or shall I say launched a new website (websites are never complete) selling survival supplies.  It’s amazing how many people don’t have any emergency survival supplies stored in case of an emergency or disaster.  If history has done nothing else it has told us that emergencies and disasters are inevitable.  Survival supplies should be as common as toilet paper or toothpaste.  How many people out there really know what kind of survival supplies are needed if all access to help were cut off completely.   It scares me.  I know I’m not physically fit to run a marathon, but could I survive in a disaster?  I don’t know.  What I do know is that the more survival supplies you have readily available in a disaster the better your chances will be.  And think about it.  Your neighbor may not have any survival supplies on hand and will ask you or me for help.  Then what do we do if we have no survival supplies ourselves.

Well, this has really got me thinking about how the world needs to be educated on preparedness.  It doesn’t really take much to stock up on survival supplies.  Just a little planning ahead and picking out the most important survival supplies for your families anticipated individual needs in the event of a disaster.  There are the basic survival supplies that we will all need but depending on the climate where you live, you may need special survival supplies for the weather/climate, time of year etc.  Our new store has links to websites that will educate you on your specific area.

I hope this is enlightening to you when you read it and I would definitely love to hear about survival experiences and how having survival supplies handy helped in an horrific situation.  Talk to you tomorrow!  I hear a storm a brewin’!
